We now support the "Internet discovery" feature.  Here are the instructions.  You need:

Splashtop Streamer:

  1. To use the "Internet Discovery" feature, you must have a Gmail account.
  2. You must use the latest version of the Splashtop Streamer for Windows/Mac (v1.6.0.1 or higher). (Keep in mind that the interface and instructions will likely change in future versions.)
  3. Download and install the Streamer for Windows from http://www.splashtop.com/downloads.
  4. Open the Advanced tab in the Splashtop Streamer dialog box. (Or Network tab if using v1.x Streamer.)
  5. Enter your Google credentials here.  Make sure to type in your full username@googlemail.com  (or username@gmail.com) in the E-mail field.  After you enter your Password and click the Login button, you should see a successful login message if your account is successfully logged in.

Splashtop CamCam iPad and iPhone / iPod touch client:

  1. Download the client from the iTunes App Store and open it.
  2. Go to the Splashtop Remote global settings by clicking on the gear icon gear-button.png in the upper right corner.
  3. You should see an "Internet Discovery" option listed there.  Tap it to enter another screen.  You'll be asked for your Google Email and Password.  Enter your Google credentials here.  Make sure to type your full username@googlemail.com  (or username@gmail.com) into the Email field.  After you enter your Password, tap "Sign in."  You should see a green checkmark if the account is successfully logged in.

You're done.  Your iPad / iPhone / iPod Touch should be able to automatically discover your computer now.

I enter all info required where I am at such as IP Address and Password and Computer Name as requested but still no luck. Is it not campatible using the HP Touchpad ??

Hi Michael, if you are trying to connect to your camera over the internet,  the device that you are using to view the camera does not take ip address. You must have a google email account for the splash cam cam to see your camera. Let me give you an example, device 1 is the pc that is running the splash stream that has a camera. device 2 your hp touch which you will need to install the view the camera. If you are viewing your camera within inside your same wifi network, then you would put in the ip address on your view device 2 which is your hp touchpad. now lets say you are not at home but away, then you would need to log into your google gmail account on both the splash streamer device 1 that has the camera and also log into the gmail account on the splash view device 2 which is the hp touchpad. Please let me know if you have any questions? Thank you. jp

When I log in to my Google acct, I keep getting "incorrect password". I have verified my password and it is correct. I am using my iPhone to access to the MS LIfecam on my desktop. As long as I am at home within Wi-Fi range ... no problem. But once I get outside of the range ...

The problem I'm having is that my Splashtop account is a hotmail account. So that means my Splashtop Streamer and Splashtop Personal are under that email address. If I try to change to a gmail account, it doesn't work because I don't have the subscription on that account. Is there a way for a hotmail email address to be used to authenticate my login and for me to use it over the internet?

Good morning gentlemen. I have tried all your suggestions here. Everything seems to be correct from my end. I have the updated version of both the App for my phone, and the program for my macbook pro. I have the same gmail account for both my macbook and my iphone-- same password and everything. when im at home in the same network, it works perfectly. Now that im at work and trying to connect via the internet, it keeps saying "could not reach". i have logged out and put in my password several times now.

what do you think the problem is?
